Catholic Worship at
Altercare
in Big Rapids
There are two major nursing homes in the City of Big Rapids: Altercare and Metron. For a better providing pastoral care, it has been the understanding in the past couple years that St. Mary Parish will help with the spiritual needs of the Catholic residents at Altercate and St. Paul Campus Parish will assist the Catholic residents at Metron.
Thus, St. Mary Parish provides the following spiritual opportunities for the Catholic residents at Altercare, 805 West Avenue, Big Rapids, MI. 49307. Phone (231) 796 3185.
MASS: Since the Eucharist is the Source and Summit of Christian Life, the parish priest
will come to Altercare every first Wednesday of the month at 10A.M. for the Celebration of the Eucharist (Mass) with the residents. Most of the time, he is accompanied by the students of St. Mary School and the Director of Music and Ministries of the parish. Parishioners and the public are most welcome to attend. If you are not frequent attendants, please call Altercare to inquiry about the room of the celebration of the Mass. If you have parents or loved ones at Altercare, you are invited to attend this Mass with them.
Communion Service: During the week, parishioners take turns bringing communion to 
your loved one at Altercare. If you have a loved one at Altercare, please call the parish office to let us know and make sure that they are on the weekly communion list. You can also simply let the Director of Activities at Altercare know the desire of your loved one to received Holy Communion weekly. The Director will contact the church on your behalf.
Special Prayer Services: From time to time, we might have a special prayer service at
the nursing home: Celebration of the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick, Distribution of Ashes on Ash Wednesday. These services will be announced in church bulletin and through the Director of Activities of the nursing home.
