ST. MARY’S PASTORAL COUNCIL

PURPOSE:

The Pastoral Council is the visionary and planning body for the pastoral and spiritual concerns of the parish.  The council does not make decisions, but makes recommendations and is a consultative body to the Pastor.

RESPONSIBILTIES:

To lead and coordinate the annual parish pastoral planning, goals, and objectives

GIFTS TO SHARE:

All planning in the parish begins with prayers and under the guidance of god’s Spirit.  Therefore, Pastoral Council members must have the willingness to pray and reflect with others, and the ability to respectfully communicate and to see the scope of the parish mission.

COMMITMENT:

Members are required to attend monthly meetings during their three-year term.  Alternating months for joint & individual meetings, the Pastoral Council of St. Mary and St. Paul will meet jointly for one month to discern the direction of both parishes; and then will meet separately the other months to be attentive to the needs of each individual parish.  Members are expected to attend all meetings; three absences during the fiscal year without notifying the Pastor are considered automatic removal from the council.  Members should be aware that if a special need arises, the Pastor might call an extraordinary meeting.  Furthermore, there are times that the Pastor might wish to consult the members of the council through other methods of communication, such as phone or email.
