What is Generation of Faith (GOF)?
Generations of Faith (GOF) is the program offered by our parish to provide a means for all Christians, of all ages to grow deeper with God and become more knowledgeable about our Catholic faith and tradition. It is by no means a substitute for the entire faith formation or religious education program of the parish, but it complements to our faith formation or religious education program. Several time during the year generations of parishioners (young and old, children and adult, youth and matured) come together to share their faith in Christ. We often meet on Wednesday evenings. NOTE: attendance for that particular evening is mandatory for children and the families of religious education our local Catholic school. Come and share your faith.
What are the topics have been discussed in the past at GOF?
We plan to follow a six year cycle which is based on the teachings from the Catechism of the Catholic Church and correlates with our annual faith formation or religious education program. For example, 2006-2007 Sacraments, 2007-2008 Liturgical Year, 2008-2009 Discipleship, 2009 -2010 Catholic Prayers and Devotions.
What are the topics for this coming year 2010-2011?
The committee has selected the topic for the 2010-2011: Christian Morality: The Ten Commandments. The remaining meetings are: December 1, 2010 –“Being Good Stewards; February 2, 2011 – Living Faithfully; March 2, 2011—Being Truthful; and April 6, 2011 –Mercy and Forgiveness
Does it cost us anything to attend these learning opportunity?
Absolutely not. All we ask you to do is to watch the bulletin and fill out the registration form so we know how much food and materials to prepare for a prayerful and educative evening.
