Purpose:
Servers participate during the Mass helping the liturgy flow smoothly. Servers provide a special link between the congregation and the celebrant.
Responsibilities:
Servers process in and out, at the beginning and end of Mass, with the priest either carrying the Cross or candles. They assist the priest during the Mass by carrying the liturgical books, incenses, and being attentive to the needs of the celebrant throughout the whole liturgy.
Gifts to Share:
The servers must be in the 3rd grade or older with a desire to assist the priest during the Mass at the altar. They must possess the ability to reverently follow along during the liturgy. ATTENTION ADULTS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN THIS MINISTRY: You too are welcome to be part of this. Especially, when you have small children involved in this ministry, parents can help them carrying the items that are not fitted to their height and strength. We encourage the involvement of the entire family. ATTENTION TEENS: We want and need you in this ministry as well. So often students finish the 8 grade and decide to leave this ministry.
Commitment:
You are willing to be scheduled for one (or more if you wish) monthly at Mass of your choice. You must arrive 15 minutes before Mass. If you cannot fulfill your commitment, please call your fellow servers to substitute for you. Attending a training is necessary.
